The Gospel Saturated Blog

The gospel is good news before it is good advice. It tells us who Jesus is, what he has done, and what that means for our lives and our world.

Jesus Christ, Raised From The Dead, Descended From David

There is no real argument from scholars that the man known as Jesus Christ existed. The reality of the historical Jesus has been well attested by friend and foe alike.  Take, for example, a Roman historian called Tactitus, who lived between 56AD - 120AD. He writes, "Christus, from whom the name [Christian] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of...Pontius Pilatus...".

“Love Is Love” – Ok, But What Is Love? | A Biblical Reply To The Naked Pastor

“Love is love” is one of the most common phrases of our time, meant to end debate and silence opposition. It suggests that love, in any form, must be accepted as good and true simply because it is love.

Historical Christianity & The Creeds: God

There is no real argument from scholars that the man known as Jesus Christ existed. The reality of the historical Jesus has been well attested by friend and foe alike.  Take, for example, a Roman historian called Tactitus, who lived between 56AD - 120AD. The Cross Of Christ | The Non-Negotiable Centre Of Christian Faith

The cross of Christ isn't just the centre of Christian faith; it's the place where heaven's deepest truths are made visible. If we want to understand what Christianity truly teaches about God, sin, love, and salvation, we need to come face to face with the cross. This is Christianity 101. It’s not a vague philosophy or moral encouragement. It's a divine rescue. And it begins with a problem.

Pride Month & The Cross: Why The Gospel Still Matters

In a culture that increasingly challenges historic Christian convictions, navigating Pride Month can be a difficult path for many believers. I want to begin by being honest: I am a non-gay-affirming Christian. I hold to a historic understanding of marriage and sexuality as I believe it's taught in Scripture.

A Response To Costi Hinn | Teaching On Ephesians 5 & Submissive Wives

In a recent episode of the For the Gospel podcast, Costi Hinn addressed “submissive wives” with an impassioned and seemingly scripture-driven message. For many Christian listeners, especially women, his delivery may feel clear, confident, and convincing. But confidence doesn’t make a teaching biblically faithful.

Women In The Early Church | What Scripture And History Show

Women were active in the early church - prophesying, praying, teaching, and serving. Luke tells us of Anna the prophet (Luke 2:36) and Philip’s daughters who prophesied (Acts 21:9). Paul acknowledges that “every woman who prays or prophesies” should do so appropriately (1 Corinthians 11:5), not that she must not do so.

When Faith Heals: Recovering From Spiritual Abuse – Part 2

In my last article, I talked a bit about spiritual abuse, the harm it causes to both individuals and communities, and how, in a corporate context, it not only replicates itself but often becomes deeply embedded in the culture and DNA of a community.

When Faith Hurts: Recognising Spiritual Abuse – Part 1

One of the contentious sparks that finally lit the flame we now know as the Reformation was the idea that the common person didn't need priests to mediate between them and God. At the time, the Church (the catholic Church — still the only established Church in the West) taught that grace was dispensed through the sacraments, which could only be administered by ordained clergy. Access to God was mediated through the priesthood, creating a system where spiritual life was filtered through human hands.

13 Videos Later: A Response to Mike Winger’s Case Against Women in Ministry

Mike Winger has released a 13-video, 40+ hour series arguing that women cannot hold positions of leadership or teach within the church.

A Line In The Sand

In a post-truth world, what isn’t up for debate? We’ve inherited a culture shaped by the catchcry “you do you” - where truth is subjective, identity is fluid, and even morality is open to reinterpretation. Right and wrong have become personal preferences. The highest good, we’re told, is doing whatever feels right for you.

Resurrection: Life After Life After Death

The entire Christian faith rests on this foundation—first and foremost, the resurrection of Jesus himself, and then the promised resurrection of those who belong to him. Paul calls Jesus “the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20), meaning his resurrection is the beginning and guarantee of what is to come for all who follow him. He goes before us so that we might share in his risen life.
Headship

The Headship Bait-And-Switch

“The husband is the head of his wife.” It’s a favourite refrain in complementarian circles, particularly when the conversation turns to biblical manhood, leadership, and a husband’s supposed God-given authority

Israel, The Church, and the Christian Conscience

What do Christianity and Judaism have in common, if anything? How should the Church understand its relationship with the Israel of today? What responsibilities do Christians have towards the Jewish people? And how should our answers to these questions shape the way we engage in public discourse about contemporary political and social issues?
