The gospel is good news before it is good advice. It tells us who Jesus is, what he has done, and what that means for our lives and our world.
A recent debate, “Jesus Is Not God In The New Testament”, between Michael Bird, New Testament Scholar, and Dale Tuggy, Analytic Philosopher of Religion, is very revealing. It does more than present two positions, Unitarian or Trinitarian; it exposes how those positions are formed and how the framework we bring to them can often settle the outcome long before the text is given a real hearing.

When prophecy and apostles are examined across the whole story of Scripture, modern charismatic claims become much harder to sustain. This article considers their biblical purpose, authority and relationship to the finality and sufficiency of Scripture.
Firstly, I want to make it clear that the goal of this article isn’t to critique or discredit the many good people of faith who land in a continuist lane. I have beautiful friends who affirm the charismatic gifts, including speaking in tongues, as ongoing and normative for the church today.
