I’m in Bible College this year, working towards a Diploma in Biblical Theology (this will, I know, NOT COME AS A SHOCK TO SOME OF YOU…) and really, it’s the dream of a lifetime to spend 5+ hours each week in biblical conversation with others of a similar persuasion.

When prophecy and apostles are examined across the whole story of Scripture, modern charismatic claims become much harder to sustain. This article considers their biblical purpose, authority and relationship to the finality and sufficiency of Scripture.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that the goal of this article isn’t to critique or discredit the many good people of faith who land in a continuist lane. I have beautiful friends who affirm the charismatic gifts, including speaking in tongues, as ongoing and normative for the church today.
